Today’s hectic lifestyle has pushed many a people to look for exciting getaways from their
humdrum routines. There are plenty of options to end that quest as well! Consider Kolarbyn
Eco-Lodge in Sweden. It’s the most primitive accommodation in Sweden and is especially
designed for those who want to merge with nature for a day or two.
This amazing eco-lodge consists of 12 tiny forest huts built amidst thick woods at a
distance of 3 km from the village of Skinnskatteberg and a seven-minute drive from the
Skinnskatteberg Train Station. So, you get to stay in a forest hut, by a crackling fireplace.
The tiny space is primitive yet cozy with beautiful lanterns, pretty sheepskin rugs and a
fireplace of the bygone days. And wake up to the pleasant chirp of birds!
The huts are built with completely natural materials, and there is no electricity, shower or
en suite, but outhouses and a nearby lake to bathe.
The most relaxing part is perhaps, the floating wood-fire Sauna by the gleaming lake of
Skärsjön, under the orange evening sky, before going to bed.
What about food? Interestingly, you get the chance to cook your breakfast or dinner with
utensils and food that are kept in a store near the huts. Ingredients are simple, such as
pasta. Cook your food over the open fire or barbeque. Fetch some fresh water from the
spring and prepare your own organic meals with the available primitive equipment. Or, take
a walk around the lake and pick mushrooms or berries to prepare your lunch.
There are plenty of activities, such as hiking, horse-riding, fishing and snowshoeing. And
don’t miss the interesting survival classes. Elk, beaver and moose safari are also popular.
Guests can use bicycles and boats to go around the area. Your forest hut is in the popular
mining district, so why not take the chance to visit one of the huge mines in the area?
This unique lodge gives you the opportunity to experience the age-old lifestyle of people
who lived in these forests. You not only become one with nature but also get time to
so2cialize via so many activities, be it cooking, hiking or just sitting in the community hut.
